Paddleboard Yoga Teacher Training – CANCELLED FOR THE 2022 SEASON

This 4-day course is designed for current yoga teachers who want to explore the exhilaration and challenges of teaching safe and empowering yoga classes on stand-up paddleboards.

This SUP Yoga Teacher Training process is rigorous, educational, and fun.

2021 Standup Paddleboard Yoga Teacher Training

This teacher training is divided into three main course sections:

The combination of standup paddleboarding and yoga has been highly popular for over 10 years. Through this 4-day course, you will learn best practices to safely facilitate standup paddleboard yoga classes in aquatic environments. Our practical and experiential course will cover basic strokes and maneuvers necessary to successfully lead groups of paddleboarders; discuss weather conditions, venue selection, and water safety; interpersonal judgement skills and group management; risk management and rescue; theming, sequencing, and modifications for safe and empowering yoga practice on the water; anchoring and equipment selection; liability, legal, and insurance; business models, marketing, and pricing.

Tuition and costs: Students who meet the essential eligibility criteria after the course will receive a SUP Level One Instructor Certification through the American Canoe Association and SUP Yoga Certificate of Completion through Yoga Farm Ithaca. See prerequisites below for more details.


Tentative Schedule:

Location: Myers Park, Lansing, NY

Prerequisites: The Standup Paddleboard Yoga Teacher training is open to everyone. A 200-hour yoga teaching certificate is highly recommended and is required to receive SUP Yoga Certificate of Completion through Yoga Farm. If you are not a certified yoga teacher you can still participate for your own learning, and, to receive the SUP yoga certificate you need to be a certified yoga teacher. It is also recommended that participants have some standup paddleboard experience.

Requirement: Participants must be a member of the American Canoe Association to participate and are required to pay instructor dues. The ACA instructor dues are included with registration. If you are already a member, please provide your ACA membership number. COVID Protocol: To participate in this program, we will follow guidelines established by the CDC and our local health department. Participants and instructors will wear masks when we cannot be physically distanced by three feet. Masks will not be worn during all water-based actvities, but it is important for participants to keep hands clean and wear masks.
