Program Description: This 3.5 day course is designed for current yoga teachers who want to explore the exhilaration and challenges of teaching safe and empowering yoga classes on stand up paddleboards. Our practical and experiential course will cover weather conditions, venue selection, and water safety; interpersonal judgement skills and group management; risk management and rescue; theming, sequencing, and modifications for safe and empowering yoga practice on the water; anchoring and equipment selection; liability, legal, and insurance; business models, marketing, and pricing.
Course fee includes Cayuga SUP Yoga at Paddle-n-More SUP Yoga Teacher Training manual, waterproof SUP yoga introduction course sequence and American Canoe Association (ACA) Level 1 SUP course instruction cards, photos, swag, and locally-sourced healthy snacks and water. Students must purchase their ACA SUP instructor manual directly from the ACA. Students must have their own SUP gear (rental gear available for a fee from Paddle-n-More). A comprehensive gear list will be sent to all registered students.
*Completion of the course does not guarantee **ACA SUP L1 Instructor Certification or Cayuga SUP Yoga at Paddle-n-More SUP Yoga Teacher Training Certification. Students must pass a written exam and on-water comprehensive exam to earn certifications. Yoga Alliance CE credits will be authorized for students who complete the course regardless of certification achievement.
Candidates must have Yoga Alliance RTY200 (or, may be in progress) or equivalent; previous SUP experience (familiarity with paddleboarding in a straight line, turning, moving board sideways, and stopping). CPR and first aid are recommended (and are required to receive ACA certification).
Course format includes on-water instruction and demonstration, team teaching, daily SUP yoga and meditation, and a comprehensive written and practical examination.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Paddleboard Yoga Instructor
Founder of Cayuga SUP Yoga, Julie Carmalt is a paddle boarder and SUP yogi who is committed to sharing stand up paddleboard yoga (SUP yoga) with students of all levels in a safe, fun, and supportive environment. A former river rafting guide in Southern Utah, Julie has previously developed therapeutic recreation programs for persons with disabilities and juvenile female offenders. She is currently an Associate Director of Health Administration at Cornell University and enjoys encouraging her students to seek life balance through paddle sports and yoga. Julie is an RYT 200 Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher, ACE Certified Paddle Yoga Instructor, and ACA Level 2 SUP instructor.
Jennifer Wells Miller
Founder & Owner of Paddle-N-More
Jennifer is an outdoor recreation enthusiast who loves being outdoors. Her passion for the environment and thirst for the outdoors motivated her to change careers at the age of 35 and start Paddle-N-More. Jennifer has a B.A. in Communication Studies and an M.S. in Recreation with a focus in Outdoor and Environmental Education. Jennifer is an American Canoe Association and PaddleFit instructor. Her certifications qualify her to teach skills in standup paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing.
Jennifer recognizes the need to provide safe learning environments for her customers. She believes in continuing education through her instructor certification program. On top of her American Canoe Association Instructor certifications, she holds her Wilderness First Responder through SOLO and is currently working to obtain her American Canoe Association Instructor Trainer certification for standup paddleboarding. She wants to share her passion and help other instructors and water-sports leaders develop their own outdoor teaching style and skills through empowering programs.
