Adventure Sailing

For ages 10-16
Cost: $300
Maximum – 16 campers
July 10-14

Description: This week is all about building your skills as a sailor while having a great time on the water. The goal is for campers to leave this week feeling comfortable single handed (sailing solo) in a small dinghy (Sunfish or Laser) in gentle conditions, and have a basic knowledge of safety at sea, how to assess risks, and manage an emergency situation. We will sail primarily small dinghy’s with an introduction to larger keelboats aboard our Catalina 22′. Our focus is on experiential learning with minimal drills and exercises, most days we will plan mini voyages and sail with our lunches to a picnic spot.

In the event of little to no wind (very rare on Cayuga Lake) we will practice safety (capsize drills etc.) then utilize the flat water paddling resources we have available.

Boardsports! = Windsurf, Wakeboard, & SUP

For ages 10-16
Cost: $350
Maximum – 15 campers
July 17-21

Description: This camp is all about our favorite boardsports. When it’s windy we’ll be windsurfing non-stop with our new kids sails and beginner boards. We practice in a safe and sheltered Bay with instruction from experienced local and Caribbean windsurfers. One day we will take a field trip up to the Roseland Wakeboard Park in Canandaigua. Campers will learn on on flat water and a 1:1 instructor-rider cable system from our expert coaches. The non-windy days will be filled with mellow SUPing and games on the water! Note: On the day the campers will travel to the Cable Park, camper drop-off will start at 7:30 am, with the bus leaving at 8:00 am.

Kiteboarding for Groms

For ages 10-16
Cost: $475
Maximum – 8 campers
July 24-28

Description: Kids are constantly marveling at the sport of kiteboarding, but seldom get the opportunity to learn due to the high cost of lessons and gear. This program is designed to make this sport accessible and help young people get their foot in the door. The goal will be to leave camp with a basic understanding of kite theory and handling as well as the ability to ride a wakeboard. We will spend time on land with trainer kites as well learning the necessary board skills at the wakeboard park. At the end campers will be ready to take the next steps and combine the kite and the board during a private lesson (special prices). Windsurfing is a complementary sport and will be practiced when conditions are too strong for kite training.

Advanced Kayak

For ages 10-16
Cost: $300
Maximum – 10 campers
Aug 7-11

Description: The world of kayaking is immense and Wind-n-Waves just breaks the surface. This camp will take campers flatwater kayaking skills to the next level and open up many new possibilities. We will focus a lot on safety and by the end of the week students will be confident performing rescues in varied conditions and will be able to teach to others. With this camp we will explore! We’ll seldom eat lunch at the park and we’ll log many miles. By the end of the week we’ll be experimenting with rolls (righting the boat after a capsize using the body and paddle without exiting) and be thinking about whitewater for those who are interested.

Whitewater Fun

For ages 10-16
Cost: $350
Maximum – 8 campers
August 14 – 18

Description: For us at PnM the most exciting paddling is found on rivers that create rapids known as whitewater. The river can provide a lifetime of fitness and entertainment, as well as a deep connection to nature in some remarkable places. SUP allows for a gentle introduction to whitewater because it’s not necessary to roll back over when you fall. By the end of this week students will be paddling Class II whitewater and have an understanding of the hazards on a river and how to avoid them. (Though SUP provides the easiest intro to whitewater, campers who have been working on rolls already will be able to progress with their kayaking skills).

Note: All travel is included in the price. We may camp overnight at some of our paddling/watersports destinations. A detailed itinerary will be provided at least two weeks prior to the scheduled camp.
